Went to go see the Dark Was the Night show at Radio City tonight, followed by an afterparty where $12 wines kept me sober, and yet all I took a picture of was this tv set in a parking garage!

Sure, some of you are probably sitting out there with your universal remote controls falling between the seat cushions on your sectional sofas as you catch up on your electronic correspondences and enjoy a film with surround sound speakers strategically placed throughout your sprawling living room…but that’s not how we roll here. There is no television in our living room, no dvd player in our apartment, and to be honest there’s not even electricity in our living room at the moment due to a monstrous water bubble that appeared in our ceiling months ago that, prior to exploding, seeped water into the electrical unit. At least, that’s my theory.

So what you are looking at here is myself and the roommate trying to get the Phish dvds to play on the flat screen tv via that ancient laptop. (This actually took place several nights ago, but I forgot I took this picture, and this epic phail—sorry—really must be documented.) After a few phone calls, a lot of cursing, much Googleing, 90 minutes, and ultimately utter defeat destroying all hope of hearing Ya Mar that night—we gave up. “It’s a complicated case, Maude,” but if you have any ideas, by all means…

For Christmas my family chipped in and bought me a new flatsceen television, which means I am saying goodbye to my old curvy-screen TV/VHS combo set that has been with me since high school. It still works really well, so if you’re in the market for a classic and want to take it off my hands and give it a good home, email me!
